How to get the Chittenden County voter file

Voter rolls are maintained by the 18 town/city clerks within Chittenden County (Burlington, South Burlington, Essex, Colchester, Williston, Shelburne, Winooski, Milton, Hinesburg, Charlotte, Jericho, Richmond, Underhill, Westford, Bolton, Buel's Gore, Huntington, St. George). - County: N/A (county does not sell). Towns: 'actual cost' of reproduction per 17 V.S.A. ch. 43; free to political party chairs in the 30 days before an election.
- How to request
- DOES NOT SELL at county level. Request the statewide file from the SOS and filter to Chittenden County towns, OR request each town's local checklist individually from each town/city clerk under the public records act.
- Turnaround
- Town clerks: a few days to ~2 weeks depending on the town's staffing.
- Use restrictions
- Towns may require a written request and a non-commercial-use representation; same statutory confidentiality applies. No residency requirement.
