Do I need to import a voter file?
No. Motion51 ships with the Florida voter file already loaded. When you set up your campaign, you pick the county or district you're running in and the relevant voters are already there — no CSV imports, no spreadsheet wrangling.
Voter files refresh on a schedule so you're working with current data, not a snapshot from last year.
How do I get started?
Email jason@motion51.com to set up a 20-minute walkthrough on your race. We'll provision your campaign, load the voter file for your district, and help you set up your first turf.
From there it's typically same-day to first canvass — if you have volunteers lined up, you can run a shift the afternoon you sign in.
Can I use Motion51 for a non-partisan race?
Yes. The product is politically neutral. School board, judicial, mosquito control, soil and water, charter board, and other non-partisan races use Motion51 the same way partisan races do.
The voter file includes party registration data, but it's up to the campaign whether to filter on it.
Does it work without cell signal?
Yes. The volunteer app is built to work offline. If a canvasser walks into a dead zone, the app keeps responding — every door tap, every response code is saved locally on the phone.
When the volunteer is back in range, the queued data syncs automatically. Nothing is lost, no "please try again" screens.
Does it work for multi-county races?
Yes. The Mid tier supports up to three counties and 250,000 voters; Statewide opens the door to statewide coverage.
Volunteers can be assigned turf in any county the campaign covers, and the live HQ map shows everyone in one view regardless of county.
How much does Motion51 cost?
Four tiers, monthly billing only. Free is $0 (one precinct, two volunteers, core toolkit). Starter is $49/month (full county voter file, up to 5 volunteers, live HQ map, exports). Mid is $99/month (up to 3 counties, 10 volunteers). Statewide is $199/month (statewide coverage, up to 100 volunteers).
Full breakdown on the pricing page.
What kind of support do paying campaigns get?
All paid tiers include email support. The Mid tier adds priority email response. The Statewide tier adds a dedicated account contact.
Free-tier users have access to the help center and email support on a best-effort basis.
What happens to my data after the race?
Your data stays your data. At the end of a cycle you can export every knock and every response code as a single CSV.
After that, you can keep your campaign active in Motion51 (for the next race) or request that your data be deleted from our systems. We never sell campaign data, never combine it across campaigns, and never share it with third parties.
How secure is the data?
Volunteer sign-in uses a PIN with rate-limited lockout to block brute force. Campaign managers sign in with passwords. The site is HTTPS only. All data is hosted in the United States.
Daily encrypted database backups. Volunteers only see the voters in their assigned turf; campaign managers only see their own campaign's data.
Can I export voter data for direct mail?
Yes, on paid tiers. You pick filters (party, vote history, response code, super-voter status, geography), click export, and get a CSV that's mail-merge ready. Vendors can feed it straight into their workflow.
The export respects state confidentiality protections — voters flagged as confidential under Florida statute are omitted automatically.
