Independence County had an estimated 38,345 residents in July 2024, the 19th most populous of Arkansas's 75 counties, up 1.1% since the 2020 census. Of those, 29,294 are 18 or older, the voting-age population, and 18.7% are 65 or older. Its 16,949 active registered voters equal about 57.9% of that voting-age population.
