How to get the Hartford area voter file
There is no county election office to ask for this one. Buy the statewide registry from the Secretary of the State, send it to us, and we cut your turf down to the Hartford-area towns you are walking. A single town's registrar of voters can also give you that town's own list.
- Where to request it
- NO COUNTY GOVERNMENT - Connecticut abolished all county government effective October 1, 1960. Voter sales are state-only (via SOTS LEAD) or town-level (via the registrar of voters in each of the 29 municipalities that make up Hartford County, e.g., Hartford, West Hartford, New Britain, Bristol, Manchester, East Hartford).State path: [email protected] / 860-509-6100. Town example: City of Hartford Registrar of Voters, 550 Main Street, Hartford, CT 06103 (https://www.hartfordct.gov/Government/ROV).
- Cost
- $300 flat for the full statewide file (recommended). Town-level requests vary - generally low or no cost.
- How to request
- Either (a) buy the full statewide file from SOTS LEAD and filter to Hartford County towns, or (b) submit a written request to each town's registrar of voters.
- Turnaround
- State path: days to ~2 weeks after payment. Town path: varies by registrar.
- Use restrictions
- Since Public Act 26-1 (signed 2026-03-03, effective from passage) rewrote Conn. Gen. Stat. s 9-50d, Connecticut voter registration information may only be used for election-related, scholarly, journalistic, political or governmental purposes and may not be used for any personal, private or commercial purpose. 'Political' is an express permitted purpose. The penalty is civil only - up to two thousand dollars per offence from the State Elections Enforcement Commission - and date of birth is now year only. Separately, and unchanged: no county-level vendor exists, so the public has no single 'Hartford County' file and must aggregate at state or town level.
Costs and rules change, so confirm the current details with the office before you order. Once you have the file, we handle loading it, cutting turf, and getting your volunteers knocking.
