St. Johns County had an estimated 334,928 residents in July 2024, the 21st most populous of Florida's 67 counties, up 22.5% since the 2020 census. Of those, 263,817 are 18 or older, the voting-age population, and 21.6% are 65 or older. Its 241,787 active registered voters equal about 91.6% of that voting-age population.

The largest cities and towns are St. Augustine (16,033), St. Augustine Beach (6,808) and Marineland (part) (1). In 2024, 197,452 votes were cast for president, about 74.8% of the voting-age population; the Democratic ticket took 33.9% and the Republican ticket 65.2%. The two-party margin moved from R+31.6 in 2008 to R+31.3 in 2024.
