How to get the Georgia voter file.

Georgia isn't pre-loaded on Motion51, so you request your district's voter file from the state and we load it in. Here's exactly where to get it, what it costs, how long it takes, and the rules — in plain English.

The short version.

The Georgia voter registration file is a public record you request from the state elections office. You pay a fee, sign a use affidavit, and get the list of registered voters for your district — names, addresses, and registration details. Then you hand it to Motion51 and we load it, geocode it, and cut your turf.

Georgia sells voter lists at every level -- statewide down to a single precinct -- through the Secretary of State's online store or a mail-in form, with the price set by geography.

What it costs.

Statewide $485 | Cong $125 | State Sen $95 | State House $75 | County $70 | Precinct (<=5) $35. (Eff. July 1, 2024.)

Tip — you may only need one county. Most local candidates only need their county ($70) or state-house district ($75) -- far cheaper than the $485 statewide file, and all you need to canvass a local race.

How to request it, step by step.

  1. Go to the Secretary of State's “order voter registration lists” page.
  2. Pick your geography: statewide $485, U.S. congressional $125, state senate $95, state house $75, county $70.
  3. Order online with a credit card, or mail the PDF order form with a check or money order.
  4. Certify that you will not use the data for commercial purposes.
  5. The list is delivered by email, generally within about two weeks (there is no expedited service).

How long it takes.

~2 weeks. NO expedite.

Use restrictions — read before you order.

Commercial use = MISDEMEANOR (O.C.G.A. § 21-2-225(c), § 21-2-601). Permitted: campaigns, party, redistricting.

Costs, forms, and rules change between cycles. Always confirm the current details on the official Georgia page linked above before you send payment. This page is a plain-language summary, not legal advice.

Georgia voter file FAQ.

How much does the Georgia voter file cost?

Statewide is $485; a U.S. congressional district is $125, a state senate district $95, a state house district $75, and a single county $70 (prices effective July 1, 2024). A returned check adds a $40 fee.

Can I use it for my campaign?

Yes -- campaign, party, and redistricting use is permitted. Commercial use is a misdemeanor under O.C.G.A. 21-2-225(c).

How long does it take?

About two weeks from when the Secretary of State receives your order. Expedited requests are not processed.

Do I have to load it myself?

No -- forward us the file the state emails you and Motion51 loads it, maps it, and sets up your turf.

Once you have the file, Motion51 takes it from there.

Getting the file is the errand. The campaign is what happens next: loading tens of thousands of addresses, putting them on a map, cutting them into walkable turf, and tracking every door. That's what Motion51 does.

Send us the file the state gives you and we load it in, geocode the addresses, and set up your district so volunteers can start knocking. The app works offline for the stretches where cell coverage drops, and every door is logged with a timestamp.
