Saginaw County had an estimated 187,714 residents in July 2024, the 11th most populous of Michigan's 83 counties, down 1.3% since the 2020 census. Of those, 148,395 are 18 or older, the voting-age population, and 21.2% are 65 or older. Its 157,041 active registered voters equal about 105.8% of that voting-age population.
It covers 801 square miles of land (234 people per square mile). The largest towns and cities are Saginaw (43,001), Saginaw (40,996), Thomas (11,921), Tittabawassee (10,932) and Bridgeport (9,878). The American Community Survey (2020-2024) puts it at a median age of 41.2, a median household income of $60,622, 24.4% of adults 25 and older holding a bachelor's degree or higher and 74.1% of occupied homes owned by the people living in them.
