Bladen County had an estimated 29,777 residents in July 2024, the 72nd most populous of North Carolina's 100 counties, up 0.5% since the 2020 census. Of those, 23,635 are 18 or older, the voting-age population, and 24.3% are 65 or older. Its 20,073 active registered voters equal about 84.9% of that voting-age population.

The largest cities and towns are Elizabethtown (3,290), Bladenboro (1,642), White Lake (852), Clarkton (605) and East Arcadia (418). The American Community Survey (2020-2024) puts it at a median age of 44.7, a median household income of $42,422, 19.5% of adults 25 and older holding a bachelor's degree or higher and 69.2% of occupied homes owned by the people living in them.
In 2024, 16,743 votes were cast for president, about 70.8% of the voting-age population; the Democratic ticket took 39.5% and the Republican ticket 59.9%. The two-party margin moved from D+2.0 in 2008 to R+20.4 in 2024.
