Jones County had an estimated 9,462 residents in July 2024, the 97th most populous of North Carolina's 100 counties, up 3.2% since the 2020 census. Of those, 7,678 are 18 or older, the voting-age population, and 25.1% are 65 or older. Its 6,316 active registered voters equal about 82.3% of that voting-age population.

The largest cities and towns are Maysville (843), Pollocksville (271) and Trenton (246). In 2024, 5,458 votes were cast for president, about 71.1% of the voting-age population; the Democratic ticket took 36.8% and the Republican ticket 62.5%. The two-party margin moved from R+8.4 in 2008 to R+25.7 in 2024.
