Randolph County had an estimated 148,389 residents in July 2024, the 22nd most populous of North Carolina's 100 counties, up 2.9% since the 2020 census. Of those, 115,916 are 18 or older, the voting-age population, and 19.1% are 65 or older. Its 87,141 active registered voters equal about 75.2% of that voting-age population.
It covers 782 square miles of land (190 people per square mile), and 60.6% of residents live outside any incorporated city or town. The largest cities and towns are Asheboro (27,928), Archdale (part) (11,752), Trinity (7,190), Randleman (4,692) and Liberty (2,715). The American Community Survey (2020-2024) puts it at a median age of 41.4, a median household income of $61,022, 17.9% of adults 25 and older holding a bachelor's degree or higher and 72.5% of occupied homes owned by the people living in them.
In 2024, 75,841 votes were cast for president, about 65.4% of the voting-age population; the Democratic ticket took 21.0% and the Republican ticket 78.3%. The two-party margin moved from R+42.3 in 2008 to R+57.3 in 2024.
