Yadkin County had an estimated 37,995 residents in July 2024, the 66th most populous of North Carolina's 100 counties, up 2.1% since the 2020 census. Of those, 30,156 are 18 or older, the voting-age population, and 21.5% are 65 or older. Its 23,114 active registered voters equal about 76.6% of that voting-age population.
It covers 335 square miles of land (113 people per square mile), and 81.0% of residents live outside any incorporated city or town. The largest cities and towns are Yadkinville (3,026), Jonesville (2,334), Boonville (1,215) and East Bend (640). The American Community Survey (2020-2024) puts it at a median age of 44.3, a median household income of $62,932, 17.5% of adults 25 and older holding a bachelor's degree or higher and 76.9% of occupied homes owned by the people living in them.
In 2024, 20,346 votes were cast for president, about 67.5% of the voting-age population; the Democratic ticket took 18.4% and the Republican ticket 80.8%. The two-party margin moved from R+46.0 in 2008 to R+62.4 in 2024.
