How to get the Cass County voter file
Request it from the office below, send us the file, and you're ready to cut turf. Running countywide or in just part of Cass County? This is the office either way.
- Where to request it
- Cass County Finance Office / Auditor — Elections Division(701) 241-5601 | finance@casscountynd.gov | Cass County Finance Office, 211 9th Street South, PO Box 2806, Fargo, ND 58108 | Finance Director / County Auditor: Michael Montplaisir
- Cost
- Actual cost under N.D.C.C. § 44-04-18(2) (open records statute) and § 16.1-02-15. Often nominal for digital delivery — frequently free or under $50 for a countywide pull, depending on staff time. County does not publish a flat-rate schedule.
- How to request
- Email or written request to the Cass County Finance Office (which doubles as the County Auditor for elections) citing N.D.C.C. § 16.1-02-15 and the election-related purpose. County pulls the CVF extract scoped to Cass County (~120K+ records). Same data spine as the statewide extract, county-scoped. Some Cass County data (precinct results, sample ballots) is published openly on the county elections page, but the voter-list extract is governed by the same § 16.1-02-15 restrictions as the statewide pull.
- Turnaround
- Typically 5-15 business days. Cass is the largest county in ND so requests get more attention than rural counties but also queue behind tax/finance work in non-election months.
- Use restrictions
- Same as statewide: § 16.1-02-15 — candidate/party/PC only, election purpose only, no resale, no non-election use.
Costs and rules change — confirm the current details with the office before you order. Once you have the file, we handle loading it, cutting turf, and getting your volunteers knocking.
