Union County had an estimated 71,721 residents in July 2024, the 36th most populous of Ohio's 88 counties, up 14.2% since the 2020 census. Of those, 54,677 are 18 or older, the voting-age population, and 13.9% are 65 or older. Its 43,365 active registered voters equal about 79.3% of that voting-age population.
It covers 432 square miles of land (166 people per square mile). The largest cities and towns are Marysville (29,276), Dublin (part) (4,361), Richwood (2,575), Milford Center (932) and Plain City (part) (754). The American Community Survey (2020-2024) puts it at a median age of 38.5, a median household income of $112,322, 39.2% of adults 25 and older holding a bachelor's degree or higher and 79.2% of occupied homes owned by the people living in them.
In 2024, 37,288 votes were cast for president, about 68.2% of the voting-age population; the Democratic ticket took 34.7% and the Republican ticket 64.3%. The two-party margin moved from R+28.1 in 2008 to R+29.6 in 2024.
