Stevens County had an estimated 49,015 residents in July 2024, the 22nd most populous of Washington's 39 counties, up 5.5% since the 2020 census. Of those, 38,944 are 18 or older, the voting-age population, and 26.5% are 65 or older. Its 36,674 active registered voters equal about 94.2% of that voting-age population.

The largest cities and towns are Colville (5,009), Chewelah (2,687), Kettle Falls (1,649), Springdale (360) and Northport (291). In 2024, 28,095 votes were cast for president, about 72.1% of the voting-age population; the Democratic ticket took 26.7% and the Republican ticket 70.8%. The two-party margin moved from R+20.8 in 2008 to R+44.1 in 2024.
