How to get your New Hampshire voter file

RSA 654:31, IV sets the SOS fee at $25 plus $0.50 per thousand names (or part thereof) above 2,500 plus shipping, AND requires the SOS to charge, collect and remit on top of that whatever each city and town would itself have charged for its own checklist. Across roughly 230 municipalities that passthrough, not the headline formula, is what decides the price of a statewide pull, so no computed total is reliable. A single town or city checklist is $25 on paper, or $25 plus $0.50 per thousand names above 2,500 (RSA 654:31, II), and one free electronic copy may be requested per election before a fee of up to $25 applies.

- Written request to the SOS Elections Division (mail, email, or in-person). RSA 654:31, IV is a mandatory-provision clause, not an eligibility whitelist: the Secretary of State SHALL, on request, provide the statewide list to a political party, a political committee, or a candidate for county, state or federal office. Separately, RSA 654:31, II requires the supervisors of the checklist or the city or town clerk to furnish their own municipality's public checklist to ANY person who asks for it. The SOS produces the statewide file from the centralized voter registration database; payment by check.

- Typically several business days to a few weeks depending on volume and time of cycle; no statutory deadline. Faster around request seasons when SOS staff are dedicated to checklist sales.
